The 15W-40 and thicker oils have a High Temperature High Shear (HTHS) spec that is very much higher than lesser oils like 10W-40 or 10W-30; the HTHS is measured at 150 degrees C and IMO very important in an air cooled engine that is run hard. Here is a link on the XR400 oil cooler kit by growl. I purchased one from him and it is by far a great kit with instructions and a factory looking install. He cuts the left side fitting off and welds it back on facing backwards. He also makes factory looking oil lines. Everything is included in the kit.

Posted May 15, 2007. My Ride. I think there is no other spark plug for our XR 400, the TRX400FW 1996-98 use NGK iridium DPR7EIX-9, but is 1mm short. The Split Fire is a very very good spark they have the SF416C for XR 400 but it's 1mm short than the NGKDPR9Z.
